St Joseph of Cupertino Friary USA.
The very Rev Monsignor John W Sweeley known in Religion as Brother Bonaventure Kolbe (eosf)
As a small Ecumenical Franciscan Community, we seek to live a common life in the Spirit of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi following the Rule of the Third Order Regular and observing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God has called us to live a life of unity and reconciliation in order that we might promote the dignity of every person, and appreciate what is good in every race, culture, and religious tradition.
Through a life of prayer and simplicity, we seek always to place our trust in God and in all things, we seek to surrender to God’s Will for our lives.
We also seek to acquire a constant sense of God’s presence and to nurture our relationship with Jesus the Christ daily in our communal prayer and personal prayer in solitude.
An important ingredient of our life is to delight in the joys of life; our friends, laughter, and meals together, because we see them exampled in Christ’s life, who came amongst us rejoicing and delighting in such things.
As Franciscan men and women who are followers of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi, we are committed to a life based on Obedience to God’s will; faith in God’s abiding love, and to work towards unity and reconciliation between all people and all of creation.
We hope through the example of our lives, and in cooperation with other communities and groups, we seek to promote unity and reconciliation that we might engender harmony and love in keeping with Jesus the Christ’s message for all of God’s people.
The life of a Franciscan is a life of growth, one day at a time, sprouting from the seed of faith, fed by the Word of God, and nurtured by the gift of love.
Inspired by the example of St. Francis and St. Clare, we become more of what God wants us to be; that is, his child. We grow where we are planted, sheltered by the Holy Spirit, revived by life-giving communion with Jesus. Supported by daily prayer and the company of our Brothers and Sisters, we become strong.
Tested by pain and suffering, we know true love and compassion. Pruned by humbly accepting our humanity and living God’s Will; we become rich bearing the fruit of many good works great and small. Accepting the Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we rejoice in God’s Glory. And knowing the truth that our heart is one with Jesus, we are free.
The Ecumenical Order of St. Francis invites you to journey with us in sharing your life on the edge: peace through reconciliation and care and concern for all creation.
